16 1/2″H x 45″L x 19 1/2″W | Limited Edition 15

This is a sculpture that I was very honored to do, it is of a locally well known cowboy named Roger McGooden. He broke young colts to lead and to handle by linking them all together with their lead ropes. He told me he could handle as many as 8 to 10 colts this way (here he is working with grown horses).

When we talked about this project, he was in a serious battle with cancer. He passed away about two months later, before I could complete the clay work. As to a title, the day he passed away, it came to me that he knew he was heading home.

  • The Hope Saddle (Mexican Saddle) by Linda Egle 2"h x 2.5"w x 3"d edition 50 Adolphus Hope produced the Hope saddle during the 1830's - 1850's and was referred to as the "Mexican" saddle because of the low, over sized horn. The Hope was used by many officers during the Civil War. The low, slanted cantle made for easier riding and became the saddle of choice for many trail drive cowboys. The Hope became the forerunner of the 1870's stock saddle.
