The Hope was used by many officers during the Civil War. The low, slanted cantle made for easier riding and became the saddle of choice for many trail drive cowboys. The Hope became the forerunner of the 1870's stock saddle.

  • Northern Plains Saddle 2"h x 2.5"w x 2.5"d Limited Edition 50 1870's Northern Plains style saddle has a half seat with a Sam Staggs or "naked rigging" and a Cheyenne roll on the cantle. The slick fork provided little support on a bucking horse. The Cheyenne roll helped a rider to mount quickly on a "nervous" horse. This saddle has no side jockeys which became popular a few years later.
